How are we doing since Lockdown?
We are climbing back from months of no income and with your help we are succeeding. In our ‘Restart Season’ we put on about 35% of our normal classes due to lack of available trainers and members. For the ‘Autumn Season’ we are already looking at 70% of pre-covid bookings, due to your support, which we think is quite remarkable. It has to be said that we are being bolstered by a big upsurge in Puppy training, we are so fortunate that new owners are understanding the importance of instilling the basics and are looking to AMDC to provide that great start obedience training and hopefully following on with other courses.
To our dear friends in Agility; thank you for your flexibility in class timings and which trainer leads your course. The Autumn term clearly sees more people with the confidence to get out and about and our class numbers are building steadily, both with old friends and new faces.
Perhaps what is most striking is the warmth and friendliness throughout the Club, friendship and camaraderie are so important to us all in this strange time of Pandemic.
One to One
We are also experiencing a rise in demand for half hour One to One training with dogs that have developed unwanted behaviour during lockdown due to being starved of socialisation. Dogs and owners that just need some support and techniques to correct single issues.
Puppy Improvers
We had a number of requests for further Puppy Training and in response we have started a new short course: ‘Puppy Improvers’ which will start on Saturday 26th September at 11.30am. This course is a four week course priced at £42.50, each class is 45 minutes. It is intended, exclusively, for those who have recently completed a Puppy Foundation course.
Some of you will only be starting your Foundation around then but another Improvers will be starting as your course finishes. For the rest of you it is an opportunity to brush up on and improve the skills learned in your Foundation course.
We hope that this will be of interest to some. This course comes about through members requests. Keep them coming, it is your club and we are listening.
PACT Animal Sanctuary
What a truly terrific response. We will support Pact on an ongoing basis so please do think whenever you shop for dog food whether you might afford a little extra to leave at the club for the rescues at PACT. Other things too, toys, leads, collars, bowls, towels…… If it is applicable to a dog or indeed any animal that might find its way into rescue it is most welcome: www.pactsanctuary.org
Change to booking confirmation routine:
When you book online, by card, you will receive a confirmation of receipt of payment from STRIPE. This is our preferred method as it is admin light. You will then receive an email confirming the start of your course when the course sells out or about ten days before it starts with any and all relevant notes attached.
Training matters:
Please do give your dog every chance of going to the toilet before classes by arriving a little early and walking the verge for a few minutes. Most people certainly do but we do have a few hold outs! Thank you for helping with this.
* NB – As you all know, we train by reward which means that it really does help if your dog is interested in treats. If your dog has been fully fed just before class it will possibly be much less interested in treats and hence training. Please do consider leaving your dog a little hungry before classes by reducing food amount on the day or waiting to feed until after class. this will guarantee your dog’s focus during lessons.
We are getting tremendous support and interest on Facebook with new followers from all parts of the country. If you want to keep up with what is going on and see fun pictures of your own and others gorgeous dogs then please consider putting aside the: ‘I don’t do facebook’ maxim and have a look, it is great fun and its OK just to look, you don’t have to contribute.
