Catherine is doing a 45 mile walk on the North Norfolk coastal path with her dogs to raise money for a dog shelter in Portugal, where she has been helping and has also added a new baby to her family a street dog called Grace (see photo).

Grace and Catherine’s story
While I was holidaying in Portugal I met Karen, who volunteers at Cadela Carlota dog sanctuary, rescueing dogs from the fields and streets of the Algarve and taking them to a safe place, where they are medically treated as necessary, then cared for with food, water and a safe place, with a team of volunteers who help to look after and care for these dogs and puppies.
I spent three days with Karen, picking up dogs/puppies from people who had found them in fields and phoned to ask the charity to take them in, taking dogs to the vet, cleaning and feeding at the shelter, meeting the dogs and puppies and hearing their stories. All the dogs were very friendly and had so much to give.
I fell in love with Grace the moment i saw her, when we picked her up and was lucky enough to be able to bring her home.
I want to raise some money for the charity as they are always needing more food, shelters, and medical expenses, and to help all the other dogs that live there and those who have yet to arrive. Every day they are contacted and asked to take in more dogs and puppies until they are full.
