The Animal Magic Dog Trainers Course consists of a 7 week practical “hands on” course to obtain assistant trainer status and with the option to take the a nationally recognised Dog Training theory qualification from Reaseheath College to obtain full trainer status.

1.Trainers Practical Course
An intensive 7 week course consisting of
- Pre course reading
- A two hour weekly placement consisting of 30 minutes instruction from a senior trainer, on effective communication skills, training the foundation course, health and safety, basic dog training theory. A one hour interaction with and observation of a Foundation Course, 30 minutes discussion on the lesson, and homework.
- Homework assignments to demonstrate understanding of learning.
On successful completion of the practical course trainees will be given a Certificate of Achievement and the offer of a place as assistant trainer with Animal Magic Dog Club. The cost of the course is £140.00 including all hand outs but not the recommended reading. 2.Reaseheath College Certificate of Dog Training Theory
Animal Magic Dog Club work closely with Reaseheath College and recommend their nationally recognised Certificate in Dog Training Theory. The Certificate is recognised by the Kennel Club ( and can be used towards their accreditation scheme if required). If you would like to progress to full trainer status with Animal Magic you must obtain this certificate.
The syllabus covers.
Module 1 – Basic principles of dog training and equipment
Module 2 – Learning theories 1 – classical conditioning – conditioned emotional responses, behaviour modification techniques
Module 3 – Learning theories 2 – operant conditioning – antecedents, consequences, shaping and chaining, behaviour modification techniques
Module 4 – Training methods and stress – positive methods, clicker training
Module 5 – Applied dog training – companion dog / obedience
Module 6 – Stress in training – causes signs and coping with stress
