Please help save local dogs from 7 day death sentence.
If a dog is picked up straying by the Police or Council then it’s taken to the dog pound, hopefully it will be reunited with its owner – but if not the dog will remain in the pound for seven days, after which, if it remains unclaimed, it will be put to sleep.
Thankfully in North Norfolk we have an organisation called Norfolk Strays run by dedicated volunteers, who try to prevent this seven day death sentence. Once the dog has served its mandatory seven days in the pound and remains unclaimed then the dog is signed over to Norfolk Strays who will house the dog in boarding kennels until a rescue organisation or new owner can be found who will take over the rehoming process.
Sadly dogs often arrive neglected; they are nursed back to health & given whatever treatment is needed in order to offer them the best chance at finding a new home.
Over the past 18 months since they have been in operation, Norfolk Strays has saved over 200 dogs from being put to sleep and have gone on to find their forever homes. These dogs come from our area and we can help by donating food, sponsoring a kennel or making a donation to their Paypal account at [email protected]. Norfolk Strays rely entirely on donations to cover kennel costs, food and vet bills.
Animal Magic is delighted to support such a deserving organisation and we will be holding a food collection throughout August. We will also have some food in the barn which you can purchase and place in the collection box in case you forget !
